St. John’s Ministries continues to operate without a capacity, recognizing that as a seasonal, emergency shelter of last resort, turning someone away due to capacity would mean subjecting that individual to the streets in harsh winter elements.
The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated Green Bay’s pre-existing issues, including cost-burdened households and a prevalent mental health crisis, and contributed to an overall increase in sheltered guests. St. John’s Ministries was consistently sheltering 110-130 guests per night in the months of January and February 2022.
