GREEN BAY, Wis. — St. John’s Homeless Shelter received the 2021 Community Award from the Brown County Community Women’s Club on Friday. The award also came with a $400 donation.
“Through BCCWC’s generous donations, they have positively impacted the lives of both our community ladies who are at risk or on the verge of homelessness and the female sheltered guests of St. John’s,” Matt Kadlec, associated executive director, said. “Their Community Award donation is used to help support these ladies by providing basic necessity items, as well as helping to support security or other robust forward-moving programming needs.
“St. John’s and Wellspring is grateful to the BCCWC members for their generosity and continued support. Whether it’s financial contributions, clothing or hygiene drives, volunteering to provide meals at St. John’s, or volunteers signing up to serve at Wellspring, the Brown County Community Women’s Club truly lives out their motto “if everyone does a little, no one has to do a lot” wonderfully throughout the year.”
Brown County Community Women’s Club was formed in 2008 by eight dedicated women and during the 2019-20 fiscal year they logged more than 13,000 volunteer hours despite COVID restrictions. They also gave $31,000 to many worthy charities in Green Bay. Since its founding in 2008, the club has donated over $417,000 to Brown County charities.
