At St. John’s Homeless Shelter, the Micah Center and Wellspring, the health and safety of our guests, volunteers and staff has always been our top priority, and we know that many have questions around COVID-19, commonly known as coronavirus. Since Feb. 25, 2020, our leadership have been meeting to develop comprehensive and proactive measures for St. John’s. We want to share with our St. John’s community what proactive steps we have taken.
Facility cleanliness and best practices
As an organization, we have adopted a broader cleaning protocol in our facilities to help aid in prevention of the spread of illness, and we have consulted with local and national medical professionals, and the CDC, to adopt best practices for a homeless shelter setting.
Communications
We continue to stay in close communications and to monitor the most recent information and best practices from the Centers for Disease Control, as we recognize many of our guests fall into categories that could place them at high risk for complications.
Policies and preparedness
We have developed policies to outline our response should someone be diagnosed with COVID-19 and are confident that, with the support of key community partners, we are positioned as well as we can be while continuing to serve the high demand at our three locations.
We take the health of our guests, staff, and volunteers seriously, and we will continue to keep each member of our St. John’s community updated and informed. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
