“I didn’t have any hope.”
Homeless for nearly 30 years, Daren was living under porches, in and out of shelters, and was an alcoholic. His life became very dark, causing depression and suicidal thoughts.
With the promise of Easter upon us, it can be hard to imagine a child of God not having hope for their future. But sadly, that is the truth for many of our struggling neighbors. Without St. John’s Ministries, they would hopelessly struggle on the streets without a warm meal, safety, or a connection to kind and compassionate advocates who help them move forward.
Daren’s story became a success once he found St. John’s Ministries and worked with a case manager. He was able to overcome his past and create lasting change.
“St. John’s gave me the seeds to grow inside of me and become better,” he said. “It gave me hope that I could accomplish things. The biggest difference now is my relationship with God and the second chance given to me.”
During the rebirth of this Easter season, we celebrate Daren’s journey. He has been sober and off the streets for over five years. He has his own apartment, participates at his church, and attends support groups that keep him grounded and accountable.

We are thankful for God’s power to bring life out of death, shine bright light into the darkness, and for His promise of Resurrection through Jesus. And, we are thankful for you – our partner in ministry.
Your support of St. John’s Ministries helped Daren with his transformation and deepened his relationship with God. But there are more people like Daren who need our help. They need your help.
Thank you in advance for your continued financial support of St. John’s Ministries. God is alive and moving through our shelters and daytime resource centers. He is risen! Happy Easter!
