Dear Volunteers,
We as a Staff at St John’s want to extend our sincere thanks for all you do at St. John’s Shelter, the Micah Center and Wellspring.
As we reflect on the end of another cold-weather shelter season, and as I personally reflect on my 8 months here at St. John’s as the Volunteer Coordinator, I always come back to the same word: grateful. I am grateful to be a part of St. John’s important mission, grateful to be in a supportive work culture, and so so grateful for each one of YOU.
I recently had the opportunity to thank many of you personally at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, I have had the honor and privilege of getting to know many of you this shelter season. You have given me such a kind and heartfelt welcome. You are amazing! You show up in snowstorms, you arrive in the morning when it’s still dark outside, you stay until I personally am already in bed for the night, you scrub floors, and sort clothing and answer phones and buy packets of Kool-Aid when we are out. Honestly, if it needs doing, it is likely being done by one of you.
In case you haven’t heard this lately– THANK YOU. Thank you for your time, your talents and your treasure. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: we could not do what we do here at St. Johns, at the Micah Center and at Wellspring– without you. I am grateful. We are grateful.
Sincerely,
Brooke
