We just recently announced that The Joseph Project was gifted a van for transportation to jobs for graduates. The van will remove the barrier to employment that transportation so often presents. We are now looking for volunteer drivers to help get graduates to their shift work. Joseph Project graduates apply for 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift positions, so we are looking for volunteer drivers who are available at all times of the day. Currently, we have graduates employed in 2nd shift positions.
All volunteer drivers would pick-up Joseph Project grads at The Micah Center. For 2nd shift that would mean transport from The Micah Center between 1:30-1:45 p.m. and pick-up from job sites at 11 p.m, Monday through Friday.
Volunteer drivers for The Joseph Project need no special license to drive the van, but drivers are required to have and maintain a valid driver’s licence and clean driving record.
We are looking to establish a small pool of drivers committed to the Joseph Project. This volunteer position is perfect for a person who wants to support graduates committed to developing a career path and who loves conversation and getting to know people while riding in the car.
If you are a current volunteer and interested in becoming a volunteer driver for The Joseph Project, please contact Brooke Graham at bgraham@sjehs.org. If you are not a current volunteer, please start by completing the standard St. John’s Volunteer Application.
